Applications
Sodium Nitrite is a common chemical reagent with pharmaceutical applications. It has been used in the treatment of cyanide poisoning however no longer in conjuction with sodium thiosulfate due to anumber of unwanted side effects. Also used in the inhibition of bacterial growth in cured and processed meats, prolonging shelf-life.
